Malayalam film actor Jayasurya, who has been accused of sexual assault by actresses, on Sunday shared an emotional message as he issued a public statement amid the ongoing case against him. The sexual assault charges registered against him are “false”, the actor said, vowing to take the case to legal proceedings. “It has devastated me, my family and everyone who has loved me,” said Jayasurya, 46.
“Due to my personal commitments, my family and I have been in the United States for the past month and during this time, two false allegations of sexual harassment have been made against me, something that has devastated me, my family and all those who have loved me,” he said.
Denying any wrongdoing, the actor said he will pursue the cases legally to prove his innocence.
“I have decided to pursue this process through legal means. My legal team will handle the rest of the proceedings related to this case. It is easy to make false accusations for anyone who lacks conscience. I just hope that one realizes that facing a false accusation of harassment is as painful as the harassment itself. A lie always travels faster than the truth, but I believe that the truth will prevail,” she said.
“I will return as soon as I finish my work here. All legal procedures to prove my innocence will continue. I have full confidence in our judicial system,” he added.

The new FIR was filed under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Section 354 C of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with voyeurism, has also been invoked against the actor based on the actress’s complaint, police said.
The woman, in a complaint, alleged that the man molested her on a film set near Thodupuzha between 2012 and 2013.
Thiruvananthapuram cantonment police on Thursday confirmed that a case under the same section has been registered against Jayasurya in another case.
Multiple FIRs have been registered against many prominent personalities in Malaysian cinema following allegations of sexual harassment against several directors and actors in the wake of revelations in the Justice K Hema Committee report.
A rape case was registered against prominent Malayalam actor and ruling CPI(M) legislator Mukesh on Wednesday evening after an actress alleged that he sexually assaulted her years ago.
On August 28, Thiruvananthapuram Museum police arrested actor Sidhique for allegedly raping an actress in a hotel eight years ago.
Following the actor’s allegation, Ranjith resigned from his post as president of the Kerala state Chalachitra Academy.
Sidhique had also resigned as general secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) following the allegations against him.
The Justice Hema Committee was constituted by the Kerala government after the actress’s assault case in 2017, and its report revealed instances of harassment and exploitation of women in the Malayalam film industry.
Amid allegations of sexual harassment and exploitation that surfaced against several actors and directors, the state government announced on August 25 the creation of a seven-member special investigation team to probe them. Subsequently, more allegations surfaced.
