Farmer’s son launches startup that generates Rs 2 crore revenue per month; his journey from poverty to becoming a successful entrepreneur | Business News

New Delhi: Some entrepreneurs have to tread difficult paths and overcome obstacles to succeed. However, despite several setbacks and difficulties, they persevere in their battles and make their dreams come true. One such entrepreneur who overcame all obstacles to achieve success is Dr Akram Ahmad. It is incredible how Dr Ahmad, brought up in a humble farming family, left his Rs 600,000 job to start Academically Global, which generates Rs 200,000 in monthly revenue.

Early life and struggle of Akram Ahmad

Born into a farming family in Uttar Pradesh, Akram Ahmad aspired to become a pharmacist and open a pharmacy. His academic qualities led his father to enroll him in a medical course, which enabled him to pursue a PhD in pharmacy at Annamalai University. On one occasion, during a talk with an American speaker at his university, Ahmad learnt about the opportunities available abroad for medical aspirants and professionals.

Exploring opportunities abroad

After trying several opportunities, Ahmad landed his first job in Malaysia as a pharmacology teacher. Over time, he made a good living working in Sydney and Malaysia.

Ahmad was pursuing a PhD at the University of Sydney when he noticed that medical professionals from India and other countries were moving abroad in search of better job opportunities in the medical field. But unaware of the support materials, licensing exams and pathways to better, higher-paying careers in the healthcare sector, they were forced to take up manual labour.

The birth of academic globalization

While working as a research manager at Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network, Dr Ahmad began sharing knowledge on YouTube about examinations for overseas medical job opportunities and gained a large following on the online platform.

Akram Ahmad quit his monthly Rs 600,000 job and now earns Rs 200,000 a month

In 2022, after quitting his Rs 600,000-a-month job, Dr Ahmad launched Academically Global, a healthcare edtech platform based in Sydney and India, offering medical professionals courses to prepare for licensing exams for higher-paying foreign medical jobs.

It started with an investment of around $50,000 and Academically Global witnessed a phenomenal increase in the number of applicants. Today, the EdTech platform serves students in 75 countries, helping them pass licensing exams. The emerging EdTech platform is also earning Rs 20 crore in monthly revenue.

Dr. Ahmad is dedicated to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background.
