Madhur Bhandarkar is known for bringing success to Bollywood in films like Bar Chandni, page 3 and Traffic signal. In his recent interview, the filmmaker shared his intentions to create a sequel to one of his hit films, Fashion. Starring Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut and Mugdha Godse, the film was widely appreciated by critics and audiences. For the film, both Priyanka and Kangana won National Film Awards in the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress categories.
Madhur Bhandarkar reveals details about the sequel of Fashion
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Madhur shared her desire to create a film or a sequel that explores the current conditions of the fashion and modeling industry. Through her film, she wants to shed light on the diminishing importance of supermodels in the age of social media, where celebrities are taking center stage at fashion shows as the protagonists and influencers are taking the place of models on the runways.
“I think Fashion has all the potential for a sequel. Nowadays, the fashion world has changed. As a filmmaker, I think I have a lot of material and therefore it can be turned into a show spanning a couple of seasons. But it is also suitable for a film. So, nothing has been decided yet. The subject, however, is interesting,” he said.

In the same conversation, Madhur highlighted that social media has taken over. There was a time when we used to hear about supermodels. However, in the last few years, it has decreased. “Can you remember the name of any supermodel? Bollywood celebrities have taken over and become stars. This is what I want to ask through Fashion 2 – Where have these supermodels disappeared to? A girl sitting in a small town can be a model or an influencer. I want to focus on these aspects,” she added.
What was the plot of Moda?
The story revolves around Meghna Mathur (played by Priyanka), an aspiring fashion model; it follows her transformation from a village girl to a supermodel, the Indian fashion industry and the careers of several other models. Fashion also explores feminism and girl power in Indian fashion.
