Decriminalization of labour laws, increasing female participation in the workforce, social security and labour welfare will boost inclusive growth in the country, a senior government official said on Thursday.

Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Sumita Dawra, made these remarks at an industrial interaction organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Employers’ Federation of India (EFI) in Bengaluru.

At the session attended by 200 industry members, “Sumita Dawra… highlighted reforms to make life and business easier introduced by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India. She emphasised on decriminalisation of labour laws, increasing female participation in the workforce, social security and labour welfare that will drive inclusive growth in India,” according to a CII release.

Dawra also mentioned that in terms of employment, there is an improving trend as shown by the data from PLFS (Periodic Labour Force Survey) and KLEMS, and EPFO ​​net subscribers have increased by over 6 crore since September 2017.
