West Bengal News: A Bengali film producer has been accused of sexual harassment amid the ongoing movement against the rape and murder of a female doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in West Bengal. The directors’ organisation has expelled this director from their organisation.
Actress accuses director Arindam Seal of harassment
Director Arindam Seal, who was accused of sexually harassing the actress, has also had to face the wrath of the ‘Directors Association of Eastern India (DAEI)’. Seal’s membership has been terminated. DAEI has sent a letter to Seal, stating that the suspension has come into effect with immediate effect.
Arindam Seal suspended from directors’ organization
In the letter sent to Arindam Seal by DAEI President Subrata Sen and Secretary Sudeshna Roy, they said that due to some allegations levelled against him and the prima facie evidence available with us, DAEI has decided to cancel his membership. It has been decided to suspend him from the organisation for an indefinite period or until the allegations against him are proved false.
Arindam Seal said: What happened, happened without knowing it.
On the other hand, Arindam Seal indirectly accepted the allegations against him. However, he has told reporters that his behaviour, which is considered misconduct, was not intentional. Arindam Seal says that the said incident happened recently when he was explaining a scene to the actress during the shooting of a film.
When it happened, no one objected.
While pleading clean, Arindam Seal also said that at that time no one considered his work or conduct as wrong. No one raised any objection. He also claimed that all the people who worked on the film and were present at the time of the incident will testify that whatever he did was not intentional.
