Fire breaks out at Tesla’s first showroom and service center in Nepal | World News

A fire broke out at a Tesla service salon in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu, damaging property and documents, police said on Friday. The fire broke out at the building of ARETE International, the first Tesla service salon in Nepal, in Tangal, Kathmandu, after noon on Friday.

“The fire has been doused. It started on the ground floor of Tesla Service Centre in Naxal. Investigation and damage assessment is underway,” Maligaun Police Circle DSP Indra Subedi confirmed to ANI over phone.

Parts of Tesla’s electric vehicles and documents were seen strewn across the floor with shards of glass scattered across the floor as the fire spread to the first floor of the one-and-a-half-story home, which also housed three charging ports for the world’s largest electric vehicle brand.

“There was no damage to any vehicle due to the fire. We suspect that it was due to a short circuit in the electric cable. Two Tesla cars that were in the showroom were quickly taken out of the scene to a safe place,” said DSP Subedi.
