Former Jharkhand CM Champai Soren on Tuesday said he will join the BJP
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Champai Soren said, “I have decided to join the Bharatiya Janata Party, expressing my faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.”
“Your cooperation is expected in this new chapter of struggle for the issues and rights of tribals, natives, dalits, backward classes, poor, workers, farmers, women, youth and common people of Jharkhand,” he added.

Soren and his son Babu Lal Soren will join the BJP on August 30.
When asked about JMM’s statement that he has been exposed, Champai Soren said, as reported by YEARS“I don’t think it is appropriate to answer. I have struggled a lot and our history is evident in Jharkhand. But we will join the BJP.”
Welcoming Soren to the party, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi said he had made the right choice.
“Champai Soren was the Chief Minister of Jharkhand and he was doing a good job. It is right that they made him Chief Minister but instead of asking him to resign, they cancelled all his work and elected a new leader. They insulted him, so Champai Soren chose an alternative. He did the right thing,” Jiten Manjhi said.
Meanwhile, JMM leader Manoj Pandey slammed the BJP saying they are dependent on other parties and have no face of their own.
“It is painful but now the situation is clear. He will join another party. How much impact this will have, time will tell. History has shown that those who have left the JMM and joined another party have not been given that respect… The existence of the BJP depends on our leaders… They (the BJP) are faceless,” Manoj Pandey said.
