Carlos Sainz gives his opinion

Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz has given his opinion on the accident that occurred between him and Sergio Pérez and which caused both drivers to not finish the race.

“I was attacking Charles in Turn 2 and then I went out of Turn 2.

“Czech [Perez] He was on my left. Normally we do a little left-hand drift on the long straight, which I did like every lap, and suddenly, for some reason I don’t understand, Checo and I collided, which is unfortunate and also very disappointing.

“We have already talked, But you have to analyse it. I’m not one of those who wants to blame an excuse or another driver. This is racing, everything happens at full speed.

“My feeling today is that, honestly, I didn’t do anything wrong, I didn’t make any erratic manoeuvres, I didn’t put him against the wall or anything like that. It’s just that, like every lap, we went a little bit to the left, because that’s where the line is and we touched. That’s how it is,” said a heartbroken Carlos Sainz after the race.

Sergio Perez gives his verdict

Red Bull driver Sergio Perez had reacted quite angrily at the time of the accident, but when the race was over and some time had passed, he gave his verdict on things.

“I felt like coming out of Turn 2 there was a lot of space between the two cars and, one or two metres apart, we ended up making contact.

“It’s a shame. Everything happened so fast. I think Carlos was trying to follow Charles’ slipstream when he went to the inside and that made things very difficult for him,” said Sergio Perez after the race.
