Swasthya Bhawan has removed four officials from their posts, including the newly appointed director of the RG Kar Hospital. These officials include the superintendent of the hospital, the additional superintendent, the newly appointed director and the head of thoracic medicine. The agitating doctors of RG Kar Hospital had staged a demonstration from the CGO Complex at Swasthya Bhavan on Wednesday and a delegation of junior doctors had gone to Swasthya Bhawan and submitted a memorandum demanding that the present RG Kar chairman Suhrita Pal and Superintendent Bulbul Mukhopadhyay, along with four officials, should be removed. Accepting that demand, Swasthya Bhawan decided to transfer the four officials from the hospital on Wednesday evening.

Soon after, Sandeep Ghosh was appointed as the director of the National Medical College, Calcutta by Swasthya Bhavan. While Suhrita Pal was appointed as the director of RG Kar Hospital. The protesting students claim that the new director has not yet come to the hospital since he took over the responsibility. At the same time, following the RG Kar hospital scandal, Sanjay Vashishtha was removed from the post of the superintendent. Bulbul Mukherjee was given this responsibility in his place but was also removed. Apart from this, the deputy superintendent of the hospital was also transferred, who called the doctor’s house and informed her after the body was recovered. It is alleged that the deputy commissioner called the victim’s house and informed that her daughter had committed suicide. Apart from this, the head of the thoracic medicine department, Arunabh Dutta Choudhary, has also been transferred. It is noteworthy that the deceased junior doctor worked in this department.
