Empanadillas are reinvented as accessories
At Area, the catwalk was anything but conventional. Rather than simply going braless, models took things to another level by adorning their bare breasts with an array of eye-catching nipple jewelry. They walked the runway with their entire chests on display, adorned with silver medallions and two-tone pieces evoking Byzantine-inspired designs, featuring gold and lapis lazuli. This daring choice was arguably even more controversial than going braless altogether, and made a bold statement in the fashion world.
Great elegance
Melitta Baumeister’s show put a fresh spin on sportswear, moving away from the typical preppy or athleisure vibes. Models showed off a range of innovative looks, from a statement leather bag dress to a playful giant silver balloon dress. These designs put a chic and edgy spin on sportswear, proving that athletic-inspired clothing can be bold and high-fashion.
Exposed underwear
While pajama pants ruled the streets in 2024, Christian Cowan is leading the charge to bring lingerie back into the spotlight in 2025. This season’s collections have focused on deconstructed slip dresses, exposed bras, and the viral no-pants trend. Dresses made entirely out of hands? That’s exactly what Area’s show offered this season. Models walked the runway in some of the most daring looks, including a black dress made out of shiny black hands arranged in an asymmetrical pattern. Another model wore an elegant black dress covered in handprints, giving it a surreal and artistic feel.
