Kharge has played a pivotal role in revolutionizing Karnataka’s technology landscape, with his tireless efforts in fostering an atmosphere of innovation and excellence, instigating measures to boost the startup ecosystem and being instrumental in setting up ‘innovation hubs’ and ‘incubation centres for mentoring startups’.

Kharge has been championing the cause of bridging gender gaps and paving the way for a more inclusive and diverse startup ecosystem in the state.

He has not shied away from constructive lobbying in favour of the ecosystem before the central government.

Kharge has recently requested Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for her support and assistance in setting up a central business district that would house a global financial and IT hub, similar to Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City).

“He GIFT “The Karnataka city will attract foreign investments, create employment opportunities and boost economic growth,” Kharge said. “It will further enhance the state’s position as a global business hub,” he added.

In another meeting with Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Kharge presented a memorandum seeking tax incentives from the Centre for Karnataka, supporting the electronics and semiconductor sector.

“Our share in the innovative business housing sector is 46% in the country, with a 10% contribution in industrial production. Karnataka has been at the forefront in electronics exports, with $4.52 billion in electronics exports at present,” Kharge said.

He stressed that Karnataka was making all possible efforts to become the leader in developing an enabling ecosystem for the electronics and semiconductor sectors.

“I wish to submit a request to you to understand the possibility of the Government of India also enhancing its financial support to Karnataka,” Kharge wrote in the memo.
