A full emergency has been declared at Trivandrum airport after an Air India flight from Mumbai received a bomb threat

Amid rising bomb threat cases across the country, a full-scale emergency was declared at the Thiruvananthapuram airport on Thursday after an Air India flight from Mumbai received a threat, news agency PTI reported citing sources.

The flight was placed in an isolation zone while passengers were evacuated, the agency also reported.

There were 135 passengers on board, sources told PTI, adding that details about the source of the threat and other information are awaited.

Recently, a Vistara flight UK-966, which was scheduled to take off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 8.15 pm on Wednesday, faced a major delay due to a fake hijacking threat. The airline received an alarming email shortly before departure, prompting immediate security measures to be taken.

The bomb threat comes just months after nearly 41 airports in the country received email bomb threats on Tuesday and each was declared a hoax following hours-long anti-sabotage checks by security agencies.

Bomb threats to hospitals and shopping malls:
At least 100 hospitals and malls in Delhi-NCR received bomb threat emails on Tuesday. Police personnel, bomb detection teams and canine squads were called in to launch searches at the sites.

AIIMS and Safdarjung Hospital in Ansari Nagar, Fortis Hospital in Vasant Kunj, Max Hospital in Saket, Primus Hospital in Chanakyapuri, Apollo Hospital in Sarita Vihar, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Rajender Nagar and Manipal Hospital in Dwarka are some of those that received bomb threats.
