Ganesh Chaturthi 2024: It’s almost September, which means it’s time to welcome Lord Ganesha into our homes. Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, is a Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha. This festival is celebrated with much pomp and fervour in several states – Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka. This year, the celebration will be held for ten days, starting from September 6 and ending on September 17.

Hindus celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi by installing clay idols of Ganesh in homes and public places. The festival concludes when the idol is taken in a public procession and immersed in a river or the sea. This is done on the day of Anant Chaturdashi.

King Lalbaugcha

Located in Pune, the temple is famous for its huge popularity across the country during Ganesh Chaturthi, which is celebrated in the state of Maharashtra with great enthusiasm. The huge size of the Ganesha statue found in this temple is very popular. It is usually adorned with valuable ornaments and jewellery. Many people visit this temple during Ganesh Chaturthi.

Siddhivinayak Temple

One of the most famous temples in the country is located in Prabhadevi, Mumbai. Celebrities and high ranking officials frequently flock to this temple to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha.

Khajrana Ganesh Temple

Located in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, the temple was known for its gate and outer wall, which are made of silver and have depictions of various moods and festivals. Bricks, jaggery, limestone, mud, soil, water and other raw materials were used to create the statue of Lord Ganesh. According to the official website, the eyes of the deity are made of diamonds and the upper wall of the temple is made of silver.

Moti Dungri Temple

One of the most precious in India. Ganesh Temples Moti Dungri Temple is located in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The shrine houses an image of Ganpati believed to be over fifty years old and brought from Gujarat.

Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple

This famous temple is located near Pune. The representation of Lord Ganesh in this temple is 2.3 meters tall and 1.2 meters wide. The idol of Ganesh is adorned with gold jewellery during Ganesh Chaturthi which enhances its radiance.
