Why do we celebrate Ganesh Utsav for ten days?
According to the Puranas, Ganesh Chaturthi March 15 is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha, son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Celebrating the Ganesh Utsav for ten days involves performing proper worship and rituals, which are believed to lead to the fulfillment of one’s wishes. Also, there is a mythological story that says that Sage Vyasa invited Ganesha to transcribe the Mahabharata. Ganesha continuously wrote for ten days while Sage Vyasa recited, resulting in a layer of dust on Ganesha. After completing this task, Ganesha took a bath in the Saraswati River on the tenth day, giving rise to the tradition of celebrating the Ganesh Utsav for ten days.
