GATE 2025: IIT Roorkee to begin registration from August 28

GATE 2025: IIT Roorkee has changed the registration start date for GATE 2025 from August 24 to August 28, 2024. Interested candidates can register for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) through the official website gate2025.iitr.ac.in. As per the revised deadline, regular online registration without late fees can be done till September 26, 2024, while candidates will be able to apply with late fees till October 7, 2024.

There are no changes to the exam date.

There has been no change in the exam dates of GATE 2025. The exam will be conducted in two sessions – morning and afternoon on 1, 2, 15 and 16 February 2025. GATE 2025, conducted as a computer-based test, will have 30 papers, all in English and in a completely objective format.

GATE is a national-level entrance exam for M.Tech at IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. Also, many Indian public sector companies use GATE scores to hire graduate engineers for entry-level positions.

You can appear in GATE 2025

Any candidate who has obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Arts/Science and Commerce can appear for the GATE-2025 exam. Students appearing in the final year examination of the Bachelor’s programme are also eligible to apply.

There will be 30 exams in GATE-2025

There will be a total of 30 papers in the GATE 2025 examination. Candidates can opt for one or two papers. Candidates opting for two papers will have to choose the pre-approved papers in combination. Additional combinations of two papers may be introduced later, depending on the availability of examination infrastructure and scheduling feasibility.

All the papers of GATE-2025 examination will be in English. Objective type questions will be asked in all the papers. The questions asked in the examination will be of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ), Multiple Selection Question (MSQ) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) type. Each paper of GATE-2025 will carry a total of 100 marks, General Aptitude (GA) will be common to all the papers (15 marks) and the rest of the papers will cover the respective syllabus (85 marks). Candidates will be able to use the on-screen virtual calculator to solve Mathematics questions.

The negative marking provision applies.

Negative marking provision is applicable in this exam. Therefore, 1/3 marks will be deducted for incorrect answer of 1 mark MCQ, 2/3 marks will be deducted for incorrect answer of 2 marks MCQ. There will be no negative marks for incorrect answers to MSQ and NAT questions.
