GATE 2025: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, the nodal institute that will organize the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)-2025, will open the registration window for admission Applications for postgraduate engineering programmes can be submitted on Wednesday, 28 August 2024 at gate2025.iitr.ac.in. The last date to fill the admission form without late fee is 26 September, while the extended deadline with late fee is 7 October 2024.

The exams will be held on 1, 2, 15 and 16 February 2025 in two shifts, morning and afternoon, on each of these days. The first shift (morning shift) will start at 9:30 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m., while the second shift (afternoon shift) will start at 2:30 p.m. and end at 5:30 p.m.

As per the GATE 2025 notification, the application can be filled only online and each candidate can fill ONLY ONE application form. If the candidate wants to appear in the second paper (from the combination of two papers), he/she can add the respective paper to his/her original application. In case of multiple applications, only one will be accepted and the remaining applications will be rejected without any refund of the fee paid.

GATE 2025: Documents required during the registration process

Candidates should note that they will be required to submit the following documents to complete the GATE 2025 registration process:

  • Photo: The candidate must submit a high-resolution passport-sized photograph (3.5 cm wide × 4.5 cm high) in JPEG/JPG format. The file size must be a minimum of 5 KB and a maximum of 1 MB.
  • Signature: High-resolution image of the candidate’s signature (3.25 to 3.75) in JPEG/JPG format. File size MUST be between 5 KB (minimum) and 200 KB (maximum). Candidates should note that signatures other than black and blue will NOT be accepted.
  • Scanned copy of category certificate (SC/ST) in pdf format (if applicable).
  • Scanned copy of the PwD certificate in pdf format (if applicable).
  • Scanned copy of the certificate of Dyslexia in pdf format (if applicable).
  • Scanned copy of a valid photo ID: Aadhar-UID (preferable)/ Passport/ PAN Card/ Voter ID/ Driving License.
  • The photo ID must have the candidate’s name, date of birth, and a unique photo ID number.
  • Address for communications (including PIN code)
  • Details of the eligibility level
  • Online banking/debit card/credit card/UPI details for payment of fees

Candidates should note that the GATE 2025 result chart will remain valid for three years from the date of announcement of results.

GATE 2025: Eligibility Criteria

According to the notification, candidates who are currently pursuing the third year or higher of anyBachelor’s programor who have completed any government approved degree programme in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science/Commerce/Arts/Humanities are eligible to appear for GATE 2025.

GATE 2025: Application Fee

Female/SC/ST/PwD candidates (per test): 900 between (August 24 to September 26) and 1400 (with late payment fee: from September 27 to October 7, 2024).

All other candidates, including foreigners (according to the test questionnaire): 1800 (from August 24 to September 26) and 2,300 (with late payment fee: from September 27, 2024 to October 7, 2024)

GATE 2025: Exam Pattern

As per the IIT-Roorkee notification, GATE 2025 will consist of 30 exams. The mode of The exams will be in English. and are entirely objective in nature. Candidates will be allowed to choose one or two papers from the permitted combinations. The duration of the examination will be 3 hours and GATE scores will be valid for three years from the date of announcement of results.

Question types include multiple choice questions (MCQs), multiple select questions (MSQs) and numerical answer type (NAT) questions. In multiple choice questions, only one of the four options is correct. In MSQs, one or more than one of the four options is/are correct; and for NAT type questions, the answer must be entered using a virtual keyboard. Candidates must use only the on-screen virtual calculator provided for their calculations.
