Goa Tourism Minister asks central government to increase direct international and domestic flights to attract more tourists

The first destination that comes to mind when we think of going on a relaxing holiday is Goa. Isn’t it? Even when we think of partying or going to a casino, Goa is the destination we would like to visit. But there are some problems here and the tourism minister of the coastal state is doing everything possible to resolve them.

Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte met Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in New Delhi on August 10 and requested him to increase direct international flights and improve air connectivity to and from major cities in India.

Not only that, Khaunte spoke to Shekhawat about the acceleration of the central government’s PRASHAD (Pilgrimage and Spiritual Rejuvenation Campaign) scheme for the Basilica of Bom Jesus. According to an official statement, a senior official of the tourism department said, “One of the main objectives of its [Khaunte and Shekhawat’s] The conversation was about how to improve international connectivity with Goa, which is crucial to attract more international visitors.”

The official mentioned that timely execution of the project would enrich the spiritual and cultural experience of travellers in Goa and enhance the overall tourist appeal of the state.

Meanwhile, Khaunte requested the Centre to support the state in improving its tourism infrastructure and consider promoting the state globally. The Union Tourism Minister has reportedly assured Goa of full support, with an aim to enhance tourism initiatives to increase the number of visitors.
