Gold smuggler was hiding in a banana and bamboo garden

Gold smuggling: After the overthrow of Sheikh Hasina government in Bangladesh, gold smuggling has also increased at the Indian border in West Bengal. It is reported that a gold smuggler was hiding in a banana and bamboo orchard at Vijaypur in Nadia district of West Bengal. On receiving information about this, the BSF (Border Security Force) jawan patrolling the border tried to catch him, then he attacked these jawans with a big knife, in which one BSF jawan was injured in the shoulder. However, the smuggler was able to catch the gold. He managed to escape leaving behind eight rods.

The smuggler had brought six kilos of gold.

According to information provided by official sources, six kilograms of smuggled gold reached the India-Bangladesh border on Monday. BSF jawan got this secret information. The patrolling trooper tried to catch him but at the same time the smuggler attacked the BSF trooper with a knife. Sources said that the BSF jawan narrowly escaped this attack by the smuggler. The smuggler fled leaving eight gold bars weighing six kilograms behind.

The smuggler had 22 gold biscuits tied to his belt.

This incident of gold smuggling took place in Vijaypur in the border district of Nadia in West Bengal. In the information provided by official sources, it was also said that the gold smuggler was hiding in a banana and bamboo garden in Vijaypur. He said that the smuggler was carrying 22 gold biscuits and eight gold bars weighing about six kilos in his belt tied around his waist. He said that the Border Security Force personnel stopped him but the smuggler attacked the security personnel with a ‘Dah’ (big knife).

Eight gold bars will be delivered to DRI

Sources said the 32nd battalion BSF soldier opened fire with his rifle but the farmers were working in the fields nearby. In such a situation, the BSF jawan did not fire any more bullets. He said the eight gold bars seized from the smuggler would be handed over to officials of Customs or Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).
