The importance of Para Powerlifting

The event will take place from 4 to 8 September at the Arena Porte de La Chapelle. Athletes compete in different weight categories such as 49kg, 54kg and 59kg for men, and 41kg, 45kg and 50kg for women, among others. Eligible disabilities include cerebral palsy, orthopaedic disabilities, neurological conditions, paraplegia and tetraplegia, ensuring that a wide range of athletes can participate.

The opening day of the Paralympic powerlifting event was packed with outstanding performances. In the women’s 45kg category, LL Guo of China took the gold medal, while Z. Newson of Great Britain and N. Muratli of Turkey took silver and bronze respectively. Meanwhile, in the men’s 49kg category, Jordan’s O. Qarada emerged victorious, followed by Turkey’s A. Kayapinar in second place and Vietnam’s VC Lê in third place.
