‘Google Maps cannot be trusted in Bengaluru’: Investor Ashish Kacholia misses flight due to traffic | India News

In a recent incident, well-known investor Ashish Kacholia missed his flight from Bengaluru to Mumbai due to the unpredictable nature of Bengaluru traffic. The city, known for its congested roads, proved to be a challenge even for Google Maps, which underestimated the travel time required to reach the airport.

Google Maps miscalculates travel time

Kacholia, co-founder of Hungama Digital, was travelling from Bengaluru HSR line to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), a distance of over 50 kilometres. According to Google Maps, the journey was expected to take 1 hour and 45 minutes. However, unforeseen traffic and weather conditions lengthened the journey to 3 hours, resulting in Kacholia missing his flight. The investor shared his experience on social media platform X, expressing his frustration over the discrepancy.
The situation was further complicated by sudden rains, which aggravated the already heavy traffic.

Bengaluru infrastructure criticised

Kacholia took the opportunity to compare Bengaluru’s infrastructure with that of Mumbai. In a post on X, she expressed gratitude for the efforts of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, BMC, to maintain a smoother flow of traffic in the city, hinting that Bengaluru’s infrastructure could benefit from significant improvements. Her comments have sparked further discussions on the challenges of commuting in Bengaluru.
