Google Photos finally incorporates this feature, to improve the current capabilities of the app – See details

Google Photos has introduced a much-awaited image flipping feature, which will allow users to flip photos horizontally without the need for third-party apps. Previously, users needed third-party apps to get the same effect. This latest addition improves the current capabilities of the Google Photos app, such as editing tools, smart organization, and ease of sharing. However, the flipping feature is available for a select group of users, and the tech giant has plans for a widespread rollout in the near future through a server-side fix.

Before this update, Google Photos users could only resize, rotate, or modify the aspect ratio of their images using the app’s crop feature.

The new horizontal flip feature will be located alongside the rotation tab once the update is fully integrated. According to the report, this new tool will also be available for videos. To use this new flip feature, Google Photos users will need to open the image they want to rotate and click on the “Edit” tab. Users can find this “Rotate” feature within the cropping tools. Clicking on this tab will flip the image horizontally. If sources are to be believed, this update is expected to be available for all users soon. While this update may seem minor, it offers a valuable improvement for both regular users and expert photographers by overhauling the photo editing processes.

Along with the image flipping feature, Google Photos has also introduced the “Ask Photos” tool for its users in the United States. Google has announced this new feature at its annual developer conference I/O 2024. It uses innovative Gemini models to understand the context of a user’s photo gallery. This tool can recognize key people, hobbies, and favorite foods to help locate particular memories and improve the search experience within the app. Both iOS and Android users can use this Ask Photos feature.
