Government assures there is no concern about the increase in imports of Chinese electric vehicles, sources say

Government sources have assured that there are no concerns about an increase in the import of electric vehicles (EV) from China. This clarification follows concerns raised by trade experts and parts of the domestic industry, particularly in light of recent trade barriers imposed by several Western countries on Chinese-made electric vehicles. Government sources indicated that India has protective measures such as import duties to prevent dumping of cheap Chinese imports and currently there is no need to take action against the import of electric vehicles from China.

Sources further noted that India’s EV market is already well-served by leading domestic companies, with more and more manufacturers entering the sector. They added that demand for imports will ultimately depend on the development of infrastructure within the industry and the balance between local demand and supply, which is currently covered by domestic production.
