Gandhinagar: After some relief from light to moderate rainfall in the last few days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that from September 1, the state should brace for heavy rainfall as a well-marked low pressure area from the Bay of Bengal is moving towards the state, which may result in heavy to very heavy rainfall.
Torrential rains are likely to occur in Vadodara, Anand and Narmada
According to the IMD, Navsari and Valsad are likely to receive heavy rainfall. Similar predictions have been made for Vadodara and Chhota Udepur on Monday, while heavy rainfall has been forecast in Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Bharuch, Bhavnagar and Narmada on Tuesday, and heavy to very heavy rainfall in Narmada and Bharuch on Wednesday.
Although rainfall decreased in most of Gujarat Several towns and villages were flooded Friday morning as rivers overflowed their banks, authorities said.
According to the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC), only four places in the state received between 15 mm and 26 mm of rain between 6 am and 2 pm, while other parts remained dry or received light rains during this period.
Gujarat The government has started repairing roads that were damaged after heavy rains lashed the state in the last few days. In Narmada district, the Building Department expedited repairs following an assessment by the district administration on the condition of roads.
The water in the district has receded and after the lull in rain, the executive engineering team of the Narmada department is carrying out necessary repairs so that the people of Narmada do not face any problems while travelling on those roads, according to an official release. In Rajkot, the district administration has started a survey to assess the damage caused by the recent heavy rains. Under the guidance of district collector Prabhav Joshi, financial assistance is now being provided to those affected by the floods, including compensation for the death of animals and destruction of houses.
