Indian restaurants are making waves on the global food scene, proving that their talent goes far beyond Indian cuisine. They are combining local traditions with international flavours, proving that they can easily compete with the best in the world. Recently, Pizzeria da Susy in Gurgaon was ranked 86th among the Top 100 Pizzerias of 2024. This list was unveiled by the Italy-based media organisation, 50 Top Pizza, at an awards ceremony held in Naples on September 4, 2024. Reportedly, each pizzeria undergoes a thorough review to earn a spot on the list. Nearly 1,000 inspectors evaluate each pizzeria anonymously, assessing the quality of food, service, wine selection, décor, and ambiance.

Chef Susanna Di Cosimo, who heads the kitchen at Pizzeria da Susy, emphasises her commitment to traditional pizza making. “We use a gas and wood-fired oven and our dough is made with imported pizzas from Molino Caputo.” flourwhich goes through a slow fermentation process at a controlled temperature,” explains Chef Susy. Pizzeria da Susy’s menu offers a wide variety of pizzas, from classics like Margherita and Quattro Formaggi to unique creations such as spinach, pumpkin sauce, smoked salmon, beetroot, walnuts and ‘nduja.
However, this isn’t the first time that da Susy has earned recognition for its pizzas. In March, the Gurugram-based establishment was ranked 13th in Asia Pacific’s Top 50 Pizzerias for 2024. At the time, the ranking page’s official website wrote: “This place today offers a true insight into the Neapolitan gastronomic tradition. On the menu, you’ll find some good quality appetizers and pizzas. There’s a choice of toppings ranging from the classic to the slightly more creative.”

In the world ranking of pizzerias, the first place was occupied by Una Pizza Napoletana, based in New York, USA. The second place was taken by Diego Vitagliano Pizzeria and I Masanielli – Francesco Martucci, both based in NaplesAnd third place went to The Pizza Bar, based in Tokyo, at number 38.
