Leader of Lebanon‘s Hezbollah cluster, Hassan NasrallahHe said on Sunday that IsraelThe terrorist organization’s preemptive strike against the group had no impact on its retaliatory operations. “We delayed our operation amid a build-up of Israeli and American forces in the region, we could not afford failure, we also discussed retaliating together as the Resistance or separately, we also wanted to give enough time for ceasefire negotiations,” Nasrallah said in the speech quoted by Wion.
He added that Hezbollah was waiting to see the outcome of ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas. Hezbollah leader He said the group needed time to see whether Iran and its regional allies would respond.
Nasrallah also criticized the United States for its involvement in Israel’s actions. He claimed that the United States has the ability to pressure Netanyahu to agree to a ceasefire, but is not doing so. Nasrallah also said that his group has kept its promise to retaliate for the Israeli “aggression” in the Beirut suburb of Dahia. Notably, Shukr was reportedly killed in the region.
Early on Sunday, Israel launched a series of airstrikes in southern Lebanon, seen as a preemptive strike to prevent a large-scale attack by Hezbollah. Meanwhile, the terror group claimed to have fired hundreds of rockets and drones to avenge the death of one of its top commanders last month.
The exchange came as Egypt hosted high-level talks aimed at a ceasefire in the 10-month war between Israel and Hamas in Loopwhich diplomats hope will help reduce regional tensions.
