Following the death of Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a strong statement affirming the resistance of the Palestinian terrorist group. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ayatollah Khamenei addressed the loss of Sinwar and declared that Hamas remains a force despite the death of one of its key leaders.
The Ayatollah wrote: “In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful. Dear Muslim nations! Dear brave youth of the region! The heroic mujahid, Commander Yahya #alSinwar, has joined his martyred comrades.”
Ayatollah praises Sinwar
He went on to praise Sinwar’s lifelong dedication to fighting what he described as a “cruel and usurping enemy,” stating that anything short of “martyrdom” would not have been a fitting end for the Hamas terrorist. “The loss of Yahya #alSinwar is painful for the Resistance Front,” Khamenei said, but noted that the movement had endured similar losses before without losing momentum.
Referring to the deaths of prominent Palestinian leaders, including Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, Fathi Shaqaqi, Abdel Aziz al-Rantisi and Ismail Haniyeh, Khamenei said: “This front did not stop its progress in the wake of the martyrdoms of eminent figures… “Likewise, it will not falter with the martyrdom of Sinwar.”
Sinwar was responsible for the barbaric and cowardly October 7 attack on unarmed Israelis.

Khamenei emphasized Hamas’ continued strength, stating: “Hamas is alive and will remain alive.” He also reiterated Iran’s continued support for the Palestinian cause, writing: “As always, we will support the sincere Palestinian mujahideen and fighters.”
In his concluding remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei offered congratulations and condolences to Sinwar’s family and comrades: “I congratulate the family of Yahya #alSinwar, his comrades and all those dedicated to jihad in the path of God on the martyrdom of our brother, Yahya al-Sinwar, and I offer my deepest condolences for this loss.”
The statement from Iran’s leader highlights the symbolic importance of Sinwar’s death for Iran and Hamas, noting that support for the group’s activities remains strong in Iran. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu The personal residence of was attacked today by a drone. Netanyahu was not at his residence during the attack. Reports suggest that the attack was launched by Hezbollah.
