Solve NEET Exam Questions: Recently, the results of NEET exam came in where many toppers registered their names from different cities across the country but this time the most notable achievement among the toppers of NEET 2024 exam came from Malkangiri district of Odisha where a 19-year-old Mangala youth from Bonda Muduli tribe has created history by becoming the first person from his community to successfully clear the NEET exam.

This historic achievement for the tribe not only reflects their personal determination, but is also an important moment for the Bonda tribe, known for its low literacy rates and socio-economic challenges, and this result makes them feel proud.

What is the origin of the Bonda tribe?

The background of the Bonda tribe is that this tribe is one of the most isolated and vulnerable tribal groups in Odisha with a literacy rate of only 36.61% as per the 2011 census. Most of the people of this tribe are found in the area of Malkangiri district where they face many challenges including limited access to education and healthcare.

But overcoming all these challenges, Mangala, a resident of Badbel village of Mudulipada Panchayat, a remote area located 400 km from Brahmapur, has now been admitted to the MBBS programme at MKCG Medical College and Hospital.

Mangala’s preparation for NEET was inspired by the lack of health facilities in her village.

Talking about Mangala’s early education, her journey started at Mudulipara SSD Secondary School, followed by higher secondary education at Muduli SSD Higher Secondary School, both institutions are supported by the SC and ST Development Department for these communities.

Muduli was from a farming family and was facing financial difficulties, Mangala saw his elder brother drop out of school and he too decided to drop out of school but his science teacher Utkal Keshari Das recognised Mangala’s potential and helped his teacher become an ornament today.

After this, Mangala made up her mind and, encouraged by her teacher, decided to become a doctor. Inspired by the lack of health services in her village, Mangala said, “I have seen people in my village struggling to get health services. If someone falls ill, they have to walk miles to reach the primary health care centre.”

While preparing for the NEET exam, Das received guidance from his teacher, who helped him understand the requirements and even provided him with a mobile phone to access the study material.
