Sao PauloA man who was denied boarding a flight that crashed in Sao Paulo, Brazil, killing 62 people, has broken his silence by saying the cabin crew refused to let him board the flight because he was late, saving his life.
In a candid conversation with Brazilian outlet TV Globo, Adriano Assis said he missed his flight because he arrived late. Asis told the outlet he thought he was supposed to board a Latam flight when he arrived at the airport, but soon realized there had been a mix-up and he was supposed to board the regional airline Vioepass flight that crashed.
Realizing his mistake, the man ran to the boarding gate, but was denied entry by airline staff for being late. At that point, Assis had a verbal argument with the staff and became angry.
In a video shared of his interview on X, one user said: “This man was not allowed to board the plane that just crashed in Vinhedo in São Paulo, Brazil because he arrived LATE. He argued with the man at the gate but ended up hugging him after hearing the plane had crashed. This is unbelievable.”
However, after news of the accident broke, Assis expressed his gratitude to the man and said the staff saved his life.
Assia was reportedly not the only one to miss the fateful flight. Another passenger made the same mistake and missed his flight.
In the interview with the Brazilian media, the man said: “Thank God we didn’t get on that plane. We didn’t know it was going to be with that company.” [Voe Pass]We thought it was going to be with Latam, and Latam was closed. I even arrived early [at the airport] and I waited, and waited, and nothing.”
