Hezbollah attacked northern Israel with 140 rockets on Friday. The militant group’s latest attack came a day after its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, vowed to retaliate against Israel for a massive bombing attack. The rockets came in three waves on Friday afternoon, the Israeli military said, targeting sites along the devastated border with Lebanon, the AP news agency reported.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry shared images of northern Israel in a post on X after “intense Hezbollah rocket fire from Lebanon.” Following the attack, the ministry said it would retaliate. “Make no mistake: those who harm the people of Israel will pay the price,” it said.

Hezbollah claimed it had attacked several locations along the border with Katyusha rockets. Among the militant group’s targets were several air defense bases as well as the headquarters of an Israeli armored brigade that it claimed it had attacked for the first time.
While taking responsibility for the attacks, Hezbollah said the rockets were retaliation for Israeli strikes on villages and homes in southern Lebanon. On Thursday, Nasrallah vowed to continue daily attacks on Israel despite this week’s deadly sabotage of its members’ communication devices, which he described as a “severe blow.”
The Israel Defense Forces used X and shared a photo from northern Israel after the assault and claimed that Hezbollah had targeted a children’s playground. “When you see sirens sounding in warning, imagine this. This is the result of one of Hezbollah’s indiscriminate rocket and missile launches against Israel. This time, they hit a children’s playground,” the IDF said.

The attack came a day after Israel launched a large-scale assault on Lebanon. Thursday’s attack came as Lebanon reeled under the impact of explosions on pagers and walkie-talkies. It came shortly after Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah delivered his first speech since thousands of explosions on radios and pagers hit the Iranian-backed Lebanese group earlier this week.
