A total of 1,841 candidates cleared the exam, which they held four years ago, and were posted in different departments, an Aayog spokesperson said here on Saturday.

The results of JOA (IT) postcode 817 and some other exams were withheld after the vigilance department found irregularities in the exams conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission (HPSSC), following a document leak uncovered on December 23, 2022.

The vigilance authorities arrested the commission’s senior assistant, Uma Azad, with the solved questionnaire and 2.5 lakh in cash. The HPSSC was later dissolved.

Meanwhile, candidates who had been on hunger strike in front of the State Selection Commission office for the past 21 days withdrew their protest following information about the declaration of exam results on Friday.

Of the 26 posts that fell vacant, 13 in two categories (scheduled castes (SC) and ward of freedom fighters) have remained vacant due to non-availability of candidates, while five posts of the disbanded HPSSC have not been filled, the spokesperson said.

The results of eight candidates implicated in the document leak case have not been announced and these posts have also remained vacant for the time being, he added.

On December 22, 2022, a case of leaked documents involving the candidates who took the exam came to light, after which the results were hidden.

More than two hundred thousand candidates had applied for this exam, out of which 1,07,878 had taken the written test.

The typing test was attended by 19,028 candidates. In total, 9,576 candidates passed the test, of whom 5,220 were selected for the document evaluation, the spokesperson said.

Of these candidates, 1,841 have been allotted different departments based on merit and the final result has been declared, he added.
