Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister raises age limit for recruitment of police officers to 26 years

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday approved a one-time relaxation for one year in the upper age limit To the candidates who are running for office recruitment of 1226 posts of Sheriff in the police department.

Now, general candidates between the age of 18 to 26 years, SC/ST, OBC, Gorkhas, distinguished sportspersons, between the age of 18 to 28 years and Home Guards between the age of 20 to 29 years will be eligible for police recruitment.

“The cabinet also decided to create and fill more than 6,630 positions in various Government departments “Including the hiring of 6,297 early childhood education and care tutors in the education department to provide better education to the little ones,” the statement said.

Decided to create and fill 200 positions Medical Officers in the Department of Health and Family Welfare. In addition to this, the Cabinet also gave its approval to fill 22 posts of Professor,

Associate Professor and Assistant Professor in various medical colleges in the State which include three Professor and two Associate Professor posts in Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Government Medical College, Nahan, two Professor and one Associate Professor post in Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College, Ner Chowk, Mandi, four Professor and five Associate and Assistant Professor posts in Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru Government Medical College, Chamba for providing specialised health services to the people closer to their homes. “It was also decided to create and fill up 8 posts of Emergency Medical Officer in Tanda Medical College and five posts of Assistant Professor in Chamba Medical College along with necessary support staff including staff nurse, theatre attendant, technicians, multi-tasking workers etc. to make Trauma Centres functional in both the medical colleges. The Cabinet has decided to create and fill up 84 posts of various categories in Himachal Pradesh Administrative Tribunal,” the statement said.

The Cabinet has given its consent to fill up 13 posts of different categories for the newly constituted Four Lane Planning Areas in the State in the Town and Country Planning department for better regulation.

“Four Youth Organizer positions were approved for filling in the Youth Services Department and the Sports Department,” the statement said.

It was decided to bring direct recruitment of Group C posts under the State Government and State Public Sector Companies, Boards, Corporations and Local Bodies under the ambit of HP Rajya Chayan Aayog.

“The Cabinet has given its nod for opening the Office of Superintendent of Police and Public Works Department of Superintendent Engineer at Dehra in Kangra district, but due to the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, these two offices will be notified later. It has also given its nod for opening the Power Division at Haroli in Una district,” the statement said.

The Cabinet also formed a Cabinet Sub-Committee under the chairmanship of Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan with Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh, Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh and Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani as members to suggest guidelines for streamlining Home Stays operations and boosting tourism in the state.

“It also approved formation of a Cabinet Sub-Committee to recommend resource mobilisation under the Chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri with Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar, Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan and Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani as members,” the statement said.

The Cabinet also reviewed the situation of forest fires, drought, water scarcity and progress of monsoon in the State.
