Horror in Kolkata: TMC MP slams ‘botched’ probe, reveals split in party

Calcutta:As clamour grows for justice in the rape and murder case of a Kolkata doctor, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Sukhendu Sekhar Ray has demanded custodial questioning of police commissioner and former director of the Medical College and Hospital RG Kar, reflecting an internal conflict within the party.

It is worth noting that the Police Commissioner led the initial investigation of the case.

He TMC The MP also sought an explanation as to why the wall near the crime spot was demolished on the pretext of renovation. He also questioned the motive behind propagating the death as suicide. He further questioned the delay in deploying sniffer dogs after three days of the incident.

After Ray’s post in X, Trinamool Congress Leader Kunal Ghosh also expressed his views opposing Ray’s demands. He termed Ray’s post as “unfortunate” and defended the police commissioner’s diligence in a tweet, saying that he did his best to investigate the case.

He tweeted: “I too demand justice in the RGKar case, but I strongly oppose this demand as far as CP is concerned. After getting information, he did his best.
