‘If doctors are not safe in the hospital, then…’ Nirbhaya’s mother spoke on Kolkata incident – Nirbhaya’s mother said the accused should be caught soon, know details of RG hospital NTC

They should be punished immediately.’ This is the pain of Nirbhaya’s mother Asha Devi. She demands that the accused should be caught as soon as possible.

CBI is investigating the matter

Kolkata Police has imposed Section 163 (earlier Section 144 of CrPC) of BNSS (Indian Civil Security Code, 2023) around RG Kar Medical College and Hospital for seven days from 18.8.2024 to prevent unlawful gathering of crowds.

Former principal questioned

On Saturday, the CBI interrogated the former principal of RG Kar Hospital, Dr. Sandeep Ghosh for a long time. Sandeep Ghosh came out of the CBI office after 13 hours. Meanwhile, the CBI has now decided to conduct a psychological test of the accused Sanjay Rai. For this, a team of CFSL (Central Forensic Science Laboratory) from Delhi reached Kolkata on Saturday. The team will test the accused Sanjay Roy. Through this test, the CBI team will try to know about the accused and try to understand his state of mind. Kolkata Police had identified the accused from the broken headphones and CCTV on the second day of the incident and then arrested Sanjay Rai. The accused has confessed his crime.

IMA wrote a letter to PM Modi

Protests are being held across the country against this incident and people are demanding justice for the victim. Let us tell you that the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the case of brutal murder of a trainee female doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. IMA wrote in its letter that ‘On August 9, a post graduate student of RG Kar Medical College was brutally raped and murdered while on duty. This incident has shocked the medical fraternity and the entire country. On August 15, the hospital was vandalized by a mob, in which many parts of the hospital including the incident site were vandalized. Due to the nature of the profession, doctors, especially female doctors, are vulnerable to violence. It is the job of the authorities to ensure the safety of doctors inside hospitals and premises. The incident at RG Kar Medical College has brought to the fore violence in hospitals.

Demand to remove the picture from social media

In this case, a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court requesting to remove the picture, name and identity of the deceased from various social media platforms. The petition states that the reputation of the family is being affected by revealing the picture of the deceased doctor and the identity of his family. Almost all the major social media platforms have been made parties in the petition. This petition will be heard in the Supreme Court on August 20.

Let us tell you that on the intervening night of 8-9, a rape-murder incident of a female doctor was reported in RG Kar Hospital. Since then, protests are being held all over the country.
