Gujarat Assembly: The Gujarat Assembly unanimously passed the Prevention and Abolition of Human Sacrifices and Other Inhuman, Evil, Aghori and Black Magic Practices Bill, 2024. If anyone is found doing this, strict action will be taken against him. He will have to pay 7 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000. According to the bill, they will be cognizable and non-bailable. Its purpose is to save people from evil and terrible practices.
What is the punishment provision in the law?
The Gujarat Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifices and Other Inhuman, Evil, Aghori and Black Magic Practices Bill, 2024 contains several provisions for punishment. According to the law, no person shall practice these superstitions or promote them. A punishment of six months to seven years is provided for the person found guilty in this bill. Apart from this, there is a provision of fine ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 50,000.
What will be considered a crime under the law?
- Under the pretext of expelling ‘ghosts’ and ‘witches’
- Attacking a person by tying him or her up with a rope or chain. Hitting a person with a whip or stick will be considered a crime.
- Wetting shoes and slippers and giving them water, smelling the smoke of burning chillies, hanging a person from the ceiling, pulling out hair. Touching the body or parts of a person with any hot object will be considered a crime.
- forcibly putting human urine or feces into a person’s mouth
- Follow inhuman, evil and Aghori practices.
- Attacking a person, parading naked in the name of ‘Jaran-Maran’, ‘Karni’ or ‘Chetuk’.
- Creating panic among the general public by summoning ghosts or threatening to summon ghosts or witches.
- To prevent a person from seeking medical treatment for dog, snake or scorpion bites and other diseases.
- Claiming to perform surgery with your fingers or claiming to change the sex of a fetus in the womb.
- Causing danger to life or serious injury in order to obtain the blessings of supernatural powers.
- Showing someone’s so-called miracles and making money from it will be considered a crime.
