IIT Bombay holds its 62nd Departmental Degree Convocation and Award Ceremony (DDAF)

IIT Bombay celebrates its 62nd edition

The 62nd Call and Departmental degree granting function (DAF) took place over two consecutive days, on 24 and 25 August 2024, at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (Bombay Institute of Technology) campus.

During the Departmental Degree Award Ceremonies (DDAF) of the 62nd Convocation, departmental chief guests, department heads, and faculty members presided over the ceremonies. A total of 3,303 degrees were conferred on 3,019 students during the academic year 2023-24, including 498 PhD degrees. This count includes the degrees conferred during the interim session held on February 24, 2024.

The Director of the institute, Professor Shireesh Kedare, congratulated the title and medal recipients and their parents on the occasion.

The President of India Gold Medal was awarded to Vedang Dhirendra Asgaonkar, a B.Tech student from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal was awarded to Kaivalya Sanjay Daga, a B.Tech student from the Department of Mechanical Engineering. In addition, many other students were awarded other gold and silver medals in recognition of their excellent performance.

During the 2023-24 academic year, a total of 3,309 degrees were awarded to 3,019 students, including 674 women and 2,345 men.

The degrees awarded include 951 B.Tech degrees, along with 358 double degrees (BTech+MTech) and 100 interdisciplinary double degrees (BTech/BS+MTech/MSc). In addition, there were 64 four-year Bachelor’s degrees, 10 double degrees (BS+MSc), 20 BDes degrees, 18 double degrees (BDes+MDes) and 31 three-year Bachelor’s degrees.

During the academic year 2023-24, the postgraduate degrees awarded included 635 MTech degrees, 46 MS degrees by research, 15 MA degrees by research, 4 double degrees (MTech/MSc+MS by research), 69 MDes degrees, 1 MA degree, 2 M.Phil degrees, 290 two-year MSc degrees and 110 MBA degrees. Additionally, 44 EMBA degrees, 12 MPP degrees and 25 PGDIIT degrees were awarded.
