IIT Madras incubated Amber Wings introduces ‘Vihaa’ drone for Indian agriculture sector

Amber Wings, the IIT Madras-incubated unmanned aerial vehicle startup, has unveiled its latest agricultural product buzz‘Vihaa’, to revolutionize agricultural practices across India.

The drone recently received certification from the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC) with the aim of making agriculture more efficient and productive. It promises to help farmers manage their crops more quickly and efficiently by automating the spraying of fertilizers, pesticides and other treatments.

Transform agriculture with faster crop management

The Vihaa drone offers a significant improvement in crop management by applying agricultural treatments up to seven times faster than traditional manual methods. This will allow farmers to save valuable time and resources, contributing to greater productivity.

“The introduction of ‘Vihaa’ marks a pivotal moment in our journey to improve agricultural practices in India. Our mission has always been to provide innovative solutions that empower farmers and drive industry growth,” said IIT Madras Professor Satya Chakravarthy, Founder, Chief and Technical Lead, Ubifly Technologies.

Empower farmers with advanced technology

Amber Wings emphasizes that Vihaa is more than just a tool: it is a partner in modern agriculture. The startup aims to make advanced technology accessible to farmers across the country, helping them optimize their farming operations.

“With ‘Vihaa’, we not only offer a tool, but a partner in modern agriculture, with the aim of making advanced technology accessible throughout the country and supporting the development of the drone technology sector in general,” Chakravarthy said.

Current outreach and expansion plans.

Amber Wings currently offers its fumigation services in three states of India: Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. The startup plans to expand its services to other regions in the coming months.

In addition to the Vihaa agricultural drone, Amber Wings is developing other drone solutions. The startup’s ‘Atva’ drone series is designed for package delivery and aerial imaging, and caters to the logistics and e-commerce sectors. They are also prototyping a 50kg payload drone to further expand its capabilities.

“We believe drone technology has the power to transform industries and unlock new possibilities for businesses,” Chakravarthy said.

“By offering end-to-end solutions and building a robust ecosystem, we aim to drive the growth of drone adoption across India,” Chakravarthy added.
