IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation has launched a new training program to create “cyber commandos” among law enforcement officials across India. An initiative of the Union Home Ministry, the ‘Cyber ​​Commando’ program aims to enhance India’s cyber defense capabilities.

The training program was inaugurated at IIT Madras by Director IIT Madras, Prof. V. Kamakoti along with Dr. Sandeep Mittal, IPS, Additional Director General Cyber ​​Crime Wing of Police (ADGP), Tamil Nadu, Col. Arvind Kumar, Director, Indian Cyber ​​Crime Coordination Center (14C) Mayank Ghildiyal, Deputy Director, (14C) Dr. MJ Shankar Raman, CEO, IIT Madras, in presence of Pravartak Technologies Foundation and other dignitaries .

Director of IIT Madras, Prof. V. Kamakoti said, “Cyber ​​threats are increasing every day. As digitalization increases, we incorporate more and more devices into our daily lives. Data is very important. It is also important to process both structured and unstructured days.”

The Cyber ​​Commandos will represent an upgrade to the existing cyber crime cell. While these cells primarily focus on reactive measures such as investigating and prosecuting cybercrimes, the commandos will be a proactive force.

The goal of this program is to equip law enforcement officers with advanced skills to effectively counter cyber challenges. Through rigorous training, state and central police personnel will be transformed into cyber experts who will be able to investigate difficult digital crimes, track cybercriminals and protect critical infrastructure.

The trainees will include agents from the police ecosystem who will be trained as cyber commandos. The course will include advanced modules on system forensics, detection and prevention of unethical access to systems, detection of crimes in the cyber domain, among others.
