Death toll in construction accident rises to 8
With the death of three more people in the three-storey building collapse incident in Transport Nagar, Lucknow, around 5 pm on Saturday, the death toll in this accident has risen to eight. Twenty-eight people have also been injured in the accident. Uttar Pradesh Relief Commissioner GS Naveen Kumar said on Sunday that during the rescue operation, the National Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team recovered the bodies of three more people – Raj Kishore (27), Rudra Yadav (24) and Jagroop Singh (35). Recovered. With this the number of people killed in this accident has risen to eight.
Rescue and relief operations will continue on Sunday.
Rescue operations are still underway to ensure that no one else is buried under the rubble. According to police, the building was built about four years ago and construction work is currently underway. Most of the victims were working on the ground floor when the accident occurred at around 4.45pm on Saturday. The building was used as a warehouse. The building had an engine shop and warehouse on the ground floor, a medical warehouse on the first floor and a cutlery warehouse on the second floor.
