Bhopal: The state government, with the help of Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation Limited, will use geo-tagging technology to verify the beneficiaries of Atal Jyoti Yojana. Under this scheme, the state government provides a subsidy to consumers who consume up to 150 units per month.

The three distribution companies in the state, Central, Eastern and Western, will use this technology. The verification process has begun in the posh areas of Bhopal and Gwalior that come under the Central Discom. Geo-tagging for identification of Atal Jyoti beneficiaries There are many consumers in various cities, towns and villages in the operational areas of the three Discoms who own significant immovable property but are still enjoying the benefits of the Atal Jyoti scheme.

Millionaires also receive illegal benefits

Sources said these consumers are availing the scheme by making multiple electricity connections at their premises. Official sources said all three issues have made their billing system data available to Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (MPSEDC). Property data has also been handed over to MPSEDC in coordination with municipal corporations and local governments. MPSEDC will extract the information of electricity consumers through geo-tagging and make it available to discoms. This will help identify consumers who have large land areas and high-value properties but are receiving subsidies under Atal Jyoti Yojana.

Based on this information, Discoms will plan actions to identify such premises. Official sources said that using the MP Jio portal of MPSEDC, data will be extracted by giving commands in the Collector’s Guide Register and information will be obtained about those consumers whose monthly electricity consumption is up to 150 units.
