Wakankar said Amazon’s penetration in SMEs is still less than 5% and largely untapped, which in itself shows the scope of India’s export business. He also said Amazon is on track to enable thousands of Indian businesses to cross $13 billion in cumulative e-commerce exports from India by the end of 2024.
Amazon’s latest report showed that 150,000 exporters have been part of the program, selling a total of over 400 million products made in India globally. Amazon said the program has seen over 20% growth in the past year and Amazon Global Selling has over 200 sellers across India.
Amazon Global Selling launched in 2015. The fastest-growing categories by 2023 were beauty (40% YoY growth), apparel (35% YoY growth), health & personal care (30% YoY growth), toys (25% YoY growth), and home (20% YoY growth).
The top international markets for Indian sellers on Amazon Global Selling were the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Mexico.
