Raipur: Union Minister of the Interior amit shah On Saturday, the deadline for the “final blow against the Naxalites” was set, claiming that India will be free of “left-wing extremism” by March. 2026.
“We believe that we can free the country from Left-wing extremism “By March 2026,” the Home Minister said, according to Press Trust of India. Addressing a press conference in Raipur after reviewing the Maoist situation along with Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Shah said a “robust strategy” was needed to end the Naxal violence.
Home Minister Amit Shah urged Naxalites to avoid violence and revealed that Chhattisgarh The government will introduce a renewed surrender policy within the next few months to encourage militants to lay down their arms and join the mainstream.
“The time has come to deal the final blow to the Naxalites,” Shah said, stressing that Naxalite violence poses a serious challenge to democracy and the menace has claimed around 17,000 lives in the country.
Shah claimed that there was a 53 per cent reduction in Naxalite incidents during the 2014-2024 period compared to the 2004-2014 period, but added that it was time to deal the “final blow” to the problem of left-wing extremism with a strong strategy.
The minister said the government has been working to fill the security vacuum in the LWE-affected areas and security personnel have been carrying out operations along with development works.
He said that besides security forces, central agencies like the National Investigation Agency and the Enforcement Directorate were also working towards achieving the target, PTI reported, citing the Home Minister.
Confident of the government’s strategy, Shah said: “We believe that we will be able to free the country from left-wing extremism by March 2026.”
Asked about Article 370, which earlier gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir, Shah reiterated that the provision will never be restored. He also responded to questions on the delayed decennial census, assuring that it would be conducted at the appropriate time.
