India’s Adani Group partners with Google to drive clean energy in India

Indian billionaire Gautam Adani directed Adani Group and Sundar Pichai led Google today announced a partnership to advance their collective sustainability goals and add more clean energy to India’s grid.

The partnership will focus on adding more clean energy to India’s power grid, with Adani supplying renewable energy to support Google’s cloud operations.

A new hybrid solar-wind project located in Khavda, Gujarat, will be the main source of this clean energy.

This renewable energy facility, considered the largest in the world, is expected to begin commercial operations in the third quarter of 2025.

A step towards Google’s carbon-free energy goal

As part of this initiative, Google aims to achieve its 24/7 carbon-free energy goal by powering its cloud services in India with clean energy.

The American tech giant has been working to ensure that all of its cloud operations are powered entirely by renewable energy by 2030.

“Through this partnership, Adani will supply clean energy from a new solar-wind hybrid project located at the world’s largest renewable energy plant in Khavda, Gujarat,” the Adani Group said in a statement.

Adani’s role in India’s clean energy growth

Adani Group, known for its large-scale renewable energy projects, will supply 61.4 megawatts of electricity from a new solar-wind hybrid project located at its 30 gigawatt (GW) Khavda renewable energy park in Gujarat.

The company has a proven track record in delivering wind, solar, hybrid and energy storage projects and is well positioned to deliver customized renewable energy solutions to commercial and industrial (C&I) customers.

With this collaboration, Adani aims to focus more on helping decarbonize industries, particularly in the commercial and C&I sectors.
