On the other hand, Biocon Ltd. (down 2.39 percent), Mankind Pharma Ltd. (down 2.02 percent), Laurus Labs Ltd. (down 1.57 percent), Ipca Laboratories Ltd. (down 1.48 percent) and Lupin Ltd. (down 1.48 percent) ended as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed down 0.49 per cent at 23,043.4.
The benchmark NSE Nifty50 index closed 292.95 points lower at 24,852.15, while the BSE Sensex was down 1,017.23 points at 81,183.93. Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 7 ended in the green, while 43 closed in the red. Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Zomato, Easy Trip Planners and Canara Bank were among the most traded on the NSE. Shares of VST Industries, Laxmi Cotspin, Nandan Denim, Godfrey Philips and Mrs. Bectors Food Specialities hit fresh 52-week highs today, while Stampede Cap(DVR), Mahalaxmi Fabric Mil, Globale Tessile, Raymond Lifestyle L and Divgi Torqtransfer hit fresh 52-week lows.
