IndiGo to resume 35 daily flights from Delhi T1 after revamp from September 2

IndiGo has announced the resumption of its operations from Terminal 1 (T1) of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) from September 2, 2024. This major development comes after the reopening of T1, which had been closed for several months due to a roof collapse incident earlier this year.

The closure of the terminal prompted a comprehensive renovation under Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) Phase 3A expansion project.

With the reopening of T1, IndiGo will operate 35 flights daily from the terminal. The airline has restructured its operations – domestic flights numbered 2000 to 2999 will continue from Terminal 2, flights numbered 5000 to 5999 will operate from Terminal 3 and all other flights will be shifted to T1.

The refurbished Terminal 1 features a range of modern amenities designed to improve passenger comfort and efficiency. Key improvements include the introduction of a mobile check-in service, which aims to reduce waiting times at check-in counters. In addition, an automatic tray collection system (ATRS) has been installed to streamline the security screening process.

The terminal is also better connected to Delhi’s transport network, with easy access to the Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line, regular Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus services and a shuttle service linking T1 to Terminals 2 and 3.

The reopening of T1 and resumption of operations by IndiGo marks a crucial step towards optimising passenger flow at IGI Airport. This transition is part of a broader effort by DIAL to accommodate the growing number of passengers and position the airport as a ‘future-ready’ travel hub.
