“Since last summer, we have been working closely with our partners, particularly the United States, where similar behavior by India came to light in an attempted extrajudicial execution,” Trudeau said at a news conference in Ottawa.
He said we will continue to work together with our allies and remain united for the rule of law.
The US State Department has not yet commented on the diplomatic crisis between its two close allies and partners.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement that India reserves the right to take additional measures in response to the Trudeau government’s support for extremism, violence and separatism against India.
The ministry said Prime Minister Trudeau’s hostile nature towards India has long been clear.
The ministry said, “Trudeau had visited India in 2018 with an aim to cultivate the vote bank, but it proved uncomfortable for him.” His cabinet includes people who are openly associated with an extremist and separatist agenda vis-à-vis India. His clear interference in India’s domestic politics in December 2020 shows how far he was trying to go in this regard.
During the press conference, Trudeau said the situation is not good at all.
Trudeau said: “Not only do we want Canadians to not face violence in their communities, in their homes, but we also want there to be no tensions in relations with India.”
