iOS 18.1 with Apple Intelligence releases next week: 5 features you shouldn’t miss

Apple’s iOS 18.1 update introduces advanced Apple Intelligence features powered by AI.

Apple is ready to launch iOS 18.1 update next week. Following the release of iOS 18 alongside the iPhone 16 series, Apple will bring Apple Intelligence, a set of AI-powered features introduced with iOS 18. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this update will launch on October 28 and introduce a set of tools next generation aimed at improving the user experience. However, Indian users may, at first, face limited access as full features are expected to be available in the future. These are five of the most interesting features expected to come to the iPhone iOS 18.1.

Advanced writing tools

One of the coolest features of Apple Intelligence includes advanced writing tools. These tools allow for spelling and grammar checking, sentence structure, word choice, and clarity suggestions. You can select between different types of tones, which can be Friendly, Professional or Concise, adapting the tone of a text to your individual needs. This feature will help you compose or correct emails on the go thanks to its ease of editing and effective communication.

Improved photo app

The Photos app is getting a major revamp, allowing users to create custom “Memory Movies.” By simply adding a description, such as “My vacation in Paris,” the app intelligently chooses which images to use and adds music to match the mood. Users will be able to personalize the movie using different Memory Mixes to adjust the mood and photo selection.

Photo Cleanup Tool

iOS 18.1 includes a cleanup tool that uses AI to remove unwanted elements from your photos without affecting the main subject. Like Android’s Magic Eraser, it allows for fast and controlled editing. Move a passer-by away from a beautiful landscape or tidy up clutter from behind – this feature allows you to enhance your photos quickly and easily.

Call recording and transcriptions

One long-awaited aspect is the call recording and transcription feature. It will roll out to the iPhone XS and newer devices. To activate recording while you are on a call, simply press the button that appears on the call interface. The person on the other end of the line will receive a notification that the recording has started. iOS 18.1 will automatically generate written transcription in multiple languages, such as English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Korean.

Visual intelligence for iPhone 16

The Visual Intelligence feature allows users to identify objects, animals, and even landmarks in real time through the iPhone’s camera. Enhanced with the help of Apple Intelligence, the feature gives users more information about their surroundings, further enhancing the functionality of the iPhone’s already amazing camera.
