Apple officially unveiled its highly-anticipated iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max at the ‘It’s Glowtime’ event held on Monday, September 9, 2024. The launch event, streamed live from Apple Park in California, not only showcased these flagship models but also unveiled the new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, Apple Watch Series 10, AirPods 4, and AirPods Max with USB-C power delivery. The iPhone 16 Pro has a starting price of Rs 119,900 for the base 128GB model, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max has a starting price of Rs 144,900 for the 256GB version. Both phones will be available in three storage options — 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. Pre-orders for the new iPhones will begin on September 13, and the devices will hit stores on September 20. Buyers can choose from four stunning finishes — Titanium Black, Desert Titanium, Natural Titanium, and Titanium White.

The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max come with larger displays, featuring a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display on the Pro model and a larger 6.9-inch display on the Pro Max. These displays deliver vibrant colors and up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness, providing excellent visibility even in bright sunlight. Both models are protected by Apple’s Ceramic Shield and are rated IP68 for water and dust resistance.
Under the hood, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are powered by Apple’s latest A18 Pro chipset. This 3nm processor features a 16-core Neural Engine for improved AI performance. The new phones also come with iOS 18 and Apple Intelligence, Apple’s advanced artificial intelligence features designed to improve the user experience.
Both models feature a 48MP Wide camera with an f/1.78 aperture and a special coating to reduce lens flare. Plus, the new 48MP Ultra Wide camera with an f/2.2 aperture improves on last year’s 12MP Ultra Wide sensor. The telephoto lens is now a 12MP 5x zoom camera with an f/2.8 aperture — a feature previously exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The rear cameras now support 4K video at up to 120 fps. The front-facing 12MP TrueDepth camera with an f/1.9 aperture is perfect for selfies and video calls.
Battery life is another highlight: The iPhone 16 Pro is expected to offer a full day of use on a single charge, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max is said to offer even longer battery life. Both models support enhanced MagSafe wireless fast charging up to 25W. They also support the Qi2 standard for 15W wireless charging speeds.
