What is the ranking methodology?
According to LinkedIn, the rankings are determined by a “carefully weighted methodology that analyzes the career outcomes of millions of MBA alumni around the world.”
In a press release issued by LinkedIn on the subject, it is stated that the methodology of the best MBA programs is based exclusively on LinkedIn data and on five key pillars. These are the following:
- Job placement: Track hiring rates and labor market demand by measuring the percentage of recent graduate cohorts from 2019-2023 who landed a full-time job within the same year of graduation, as well as recruiter outreach among recent cohorts in each program.
- Measuring Promotion Rates: Ability to measure promotion rates among recent graduate cohorts, as well as how quickly alumni have reached leadership roles at the director or vice president level.
- Network strength: Analyze the depth of the network or how connected alumni of the same program are to each other, the quality of the network of recent graduate cohorts as measured by connections to professionals at the management level or above, and the growth rate of the network of recent cohorts since they began the program.
- Leadership potential: Measuring the percentage of alumni with post-MBA C-Suite or entrepreneurial experience.
- Gender diversity: Measuring gender parity in recent graduate cohorts.
Eligibility criteria:
- To be ranked by LinkedIn, MBA programs offered by business schools must be full-time and accredited by AACSB or Equis.
- Programs must have at least 1,500 alumni in total, of whom at least 400 must have graduated within the recent cohort (2019-2023).

Nirajita Banerjee, Senior Executive Editor and Career Expert at LinkedIn News India, highlighted that an MBA can be a powerful tool for professionals looking to accelerate their careers, whether for leadership roles, exploring new industries or even starting their own business.
“In addition to earning a degree, it is an opportunity to hone key and in-demand soft skills such as strategic thinking, leadership and problem-solving, all while building connections that can open doors to new opportunities long after graduation,” she said.
Meanwhile, Nirajita also shared tips on how professionals pursuing an MBA can improve their career prospects:
- Network, network, network. Meet as many people as you can, attend school events, and build your LinkedIn network as you go (add people as you meet them).
- Hone your key human skills: teamwork, collaboration, and communication. Business school focuses on team projects, giving you a great opportunity to develop your leadership and collaboration skills.
- Start posting on LinkedIn sharing what you learned during the course and case study exercises on any business topic you are passionate about. This can help you grow your network and build your brand.
- Think about what you would like to do after completing your MBA. If you have a job in mind, consider the skills required for that position and make sure you develop them during the program and address them in your studies.
- Participate in club events, project presentation events and case competitions. There are great opportunities to develop your presentation and persuasion skills, and performing well at these events can be a great achievement for you when applying for jobs or starting a new company.
- Look for internships, jobs, or leadership roles on campus that you can take on as you progress through your program, which can help you prepare for stronger job prospects as you get closer to graduation.
