Ishan Kishan He made a memorable return to first-class cricket and scored a century for India C in the second round of the Duleep TrophyThe wicketkeeper-batsman missed the opening round of the tournament. Ishan grabbed the opportunity with both hands and silenced his critics with a knock of 111 off 126 balls.
After the match, Ishan shared a two-word post on Instagram and wrote, “Unfinished business.” Ishan’s post went viral and garnered a huge response from his fans and followers.
Ishan’s form has earned him a return to domestic competition. While he doesn’t have a place in the Test squad at the moment, he could return for the T20I series against Bangladesh if Rishabh Pant is rested.
Ishan Kishan lost his contract as a centre-back
Ishan Kishan lost his contract at centre-half in early 2024 for not taking part in the domestic season. He took a break from playing in December 2023 and pulled out of the tour of South Africa before the start of the Test series.
Ishan did not play for Jharkhand in the final round of the Ranji Trophy, following which he lost his centre-back contract. Bank of Canada International Trade Commission (BCCI) left the door ajar for him by selecting him for the Duleep Trophy.
Dhruv Jurel He made his debut in Ishan’s absence.
In the absence of Ishan, the selectors called up Dhruv Jurel for the first time in India. KS Bharat failed to capitalise on the opportunities they got against England and Dhruv made his debut against the visiting team.
He has retained his place in the Bangladesh series. Rishabh Pant has returned to Test matches and looks set to be part of the final XI. Rishabh could play all 10 Test matches of the home season.
He is not expected to play any T20Is during the season, leaving a vacant spot for Ishan. Sanju Samson will be hoping to retain his spot for Bangladesh’s T20I series.
