The Israeli military carried out an airstrike in southern Beirut on Friday, killing Ibrahim Aqil, a senior Hezbollah military official, CNN reported. The military said Aqil was part of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan force.
The attack caused significant damage in the Jamous area in Beirut’s southern suburbs, collapsing at least two residential buildings, CNN reported.

Specialized rescue teams are working to find people trapped under the rubble. Lebanon’s civil defense has urged people to evacuate the area. In addition, Lebanon’s Health Ministry said at least nine people were killed and 58 others wounded in an attack in southern Beirut, adding that at least eight of those hospitalized are in critical condition.
